Childcare & School Support

We offer Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) courses in Childcare, Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools and Supporting Learning in Further Education and Community Learning Environments.

The QCF allows learners to build towards a qualification at their own pace. Each qualification is made up of a number of units. Each unit has a level, credit value and learning outcome. The level reflects the degree of difficulty, it also indicates what you will have to know, understand and do at each level.

College Entry Requirements

You must be working or volunteering in an Early Years or School Setting - minimum 6 hours for Level 2, 12 hours for Level 3 each week and 1 session for College and Community Learning Settings. You must have a literacy and numeracy Level 1, 2 or GCSE Maths and English, alternatively you can take our Initial Assessment.

Childminders, attend your Local Authority Pre-Registration Meeting.

All learners in this care sector will require a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) Enhanced Disclosure. Contact Wendy Preston for further information. Email: wendy.preston@adultedbexley.org

Working with Children & Young People

It is a great responsibility to work with children, young people or vulnerable adults. This work can be challenging, exciting and rewarding.

It also demands that everyone working with these groups does so safely and keeps them safe from harm. Work within this Sector is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

The Adult Education College also takes the Safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults very seriously. Obtaining a CRB check is a first  important step towards ensuring that people who may represent a threat to these groups (having a criminal record) are refused access to student placements or work in Childcare, Classroom, Caring or College Settings.

Most placements will arrange the Enhanced CRB Check  for you, if you have any difficulty this can be done by the College; you will be charged for this service.

Level 3 courses will require you to book an interview,
