Adult Education College Bexley holds as a high priority the health, safety and welfare of all vulnerable learners involved in courses or activities which come under the responsibility of the College. We believe that all learners, regardless of age, disability, gender & gender reassignment, marriage & civil partnership, pregnancy & maternity, race, religious belief, sexual orientation have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.

To help safeguard our learners the College will:

  • Take a preventive approach to protect them from potential
    harm or damage.
  • Take all appropriate actions to address concerns about their welfare.
  • Work to agreed local policies and procedures in full
    partnership with other local agencies
  • Plan, implement, monitor and review policies and procedures
    to ensure that the maximum is done to provide a safe
    environment for vulnerable learners in the College.
  • Take all reasonable measures to ensure that risks of harm
    to them is minimised.

Our procedures include:

  • Carrying out risk assessments and managing any risks effectively.
  • Adhering to our Health and Safety procedures.
  • Staff selection, recruitment, induction supervision and training to be carried out safely and thoroughly.
  • Reacting quickly and decisively to any reported incidents of harm or abuse.
  • Awareness training for all staff.
