Free Courses
You may be entitled to a free course if:
- you are in receipt of JSA or ESA (Work Related Activity Group)
- this course is your first Full Level 2 (Level 2 is equivalent of 5 GCSEs A-C grades)
- this course is your first Full Level 3 and you are aged 19-24 (Level 3 is equivalent of 2 full A Levels)
You will be required to pay a £50 refundable deposit - see below for more details.
Free Courses - Tuition Fee only*
You may be entitled to a free course - tuition fee only (you will still be required to pay any examination, registration and administration fees) if:
- you don’t have a Full Level 2 and you need to take a Foundation Learning (FL) course before progressing to Level 2
- this is your first Full Level 3 and you don’t already hold a level 2. qualification
These courses are indicated by the symbols: FL F2 F3.
If you believe you may be entitled to a free Foundation Learning, Full Level 2 or Full Level 3 course, check the current Fee Chart and then complete the declaration form available to download and attach it to your enrolment form.
Please note: You cannot enrol for these courses by phone or online.

The funding agency have revised their rules and you may now be eligible for a FREE* course - tuition fees only, if you are unemployed AND if you need to improve your skills to help you find work AND if you are receiving one of the following:
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Council Tax Benefit
- Pension Guarantee Credit
The course must be marked with this symbol
to be eligible.

Free Examination Courses
Deposits
If you are in receipt of a free examination course(s) you will be required to pay a one-off deposit (per academic year) of £50.00 which is refundable once you complete the course and take the exam. The refund will be issued once the results have been received by the College. If you are taking more than one accredited course, this will be after the final assessment. Learners on Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA) or other eligible benefits will be asked to provide proof of status before starting the course – please see fee chart for information.
